Depends on what you can get for it.

Just remember that at the end of the hire period you won't have any value to come back and no car. But if in the meantime you can drive something well above your budget now, could be worth it.

I looked at lease cars.

£450 ish for an Astra VXR

£550 for 320d M Sport

£250 for a CTR

£369 for R26 Megane F1

£180 will get you a KIA pride

If I were very rich and had this as a worry I think I'd lease most of my cars and therefore swap every 6 months

thats the advertised sales price m8.

Trust me i looked into it and got about 4 different quotes from different companies with varying spec levels. Nothing came that cheap.

They often advertise the business user rates as well. Basically i must have had about 30 quotes for different cars and general rule was add at least £100 to the price advertised on the web site.

You would be paying the loan for at least 5 years though. Say you buy a 20k car, with interest on loan you may pay back something like £27k. After 5 years you car will be worth 7k. Yes you own the car but think at what cost?

Initial deposit on the car and the all the depreciation on the vehicle you lose thousands and thousands.

With the lease car all you are paying for effectively is the depreciation, you get road fund tax paid for and for a small amount you can get it fully maintained. Along with the dealer warranty you will never pay more then the monthly lease amount.

At the end of 2 years you hand it back and get another new car.

Depends on your circumstances, leasing its not for everyone.

I would never buy a brand new car and borrow the money. If i dont have 20k in the bank i dont buy a 20k car simple. Id rather spend 6k on a car with cash i actually possess.

If i badly want a brand new 3 series or something i will lease it. Enjoy the car for 2 years and at the end of that im not in huge debt.
