Anyone know much about these cars???

There getting pretty cheap now even for the very clean well looked after examples

Seen a few on PH for around the £4-£4.5k mark with a long list of goodies on them claiming the 300+bhp mark

My uncle knows someone who has one.
Engine has been rebuilt about 3 times, the gearbox has blown serveral times while on a dyno. I don't think they are much cop although I wouldn't mind one.

Weak gearbox and brakes are the main issues, both can be sorted with a stronger box and new brakes.

I've got a Pulsar and I love it. It is by far the most fun car i have owned todate. The only problem i have had is that the alternator went and this nakered the bottom pulley costing me just short of £500. I have had the car for well over a year. As long as like any car its serviced regularly and not abused every day it should be ok. Saying that today i have noticed that the clutch master cylinder is leaking

I want one

Just can't afford to run one

4x4 and 225bhp in a small hatch has got to be fun.

Think the clutch change is an engine out job on them due to the position.

Very quick cars up to 100mph, on the 1/4, but a lot of transmission power loss after that.

Good little cars, but better available for the money.

Very quick cars and a lot of bhp per £££

They are not as bad as people make out, the reliabiity issues are mainly due to loads of people without a clue owning them.

You'll find most of the mollested ones have had huge boost increases with no uprating to the cooling nor the internals which in turn has bad effects.

Stock for stock they are very good cars and you shouldnt have many problems. Only weakness as mentioned before is the gearboxes but this is maily down to the level of tune a car may run.

Brakes could also do with uprating as they are generally pants as standard and woud have a trouble stopping a milk float

I'd get myself onto a Pulsar forum and read up as you'll only get mindless tittle tattle on here.

1 bar boost limit on standard internals, like most jap cars pistons are the weak point after that(with exeptions of course,sti-evo),think you can tune to 320bhp with boost upgrade, fmic ect,but engine is really highly stressed then!

also as said above gearbox and clutch are in trouble then too.

really quick but expensive to fix!

Love the looks of them but IMO the like's of scooby's and evo's you can get for 4-5K i wouldn't bother.
