We built a 2.5 4 pot duratec for a very good customer of ours, had a crank done, billit item, not cheap.

rev'd to 7900 (2.3's go to 8500 all day long) company said it would be ok, so happy days.

the morning of the Performance ford track day the customer gets to the top of our road and notices a funny noise.....

little investigation found this:

sending it off to be xray'd and crack tested, believe it to be a flaw with the material by the way it snapped, or it cracked when it was nitrided....

anyway, time to move on to bigger and better things with the engine now!

yeah was the fiesta i posted about, absolute beast, recon the rods would fail before the crank if it was down to revs....

had some "experts" look at it and it has failed along a sharp edge on the crank, deffo a material problem, having cosworth analise it tomorrow tho to give us a proper opinion
