What causes muscle spasms?

My left forearm has been continuously having spasms every 5-10 seconds for the past 3 days? It's so fucking annoying..

Its just nerves firing, the same thing that causes hiccups but in a different place - they have no idea the actual cause of hiccups apart from that its a muscle spasm in the diaphram.

My eye did it for about 3 weeks and it drove me to madness - apparently eyelids do it through being tired.

Went gym last night and strangely it has stopped now. I thought it might have been due to overworking in the gym?!?!?
