for a friend,
do you have to send your licence back to dvla to make them aware of your points or do they send you a letter saying they have revoked your licence, been a while and he still hasnt recieved a letter?
is he still able to drive until dvla issue the revoking letter?

Not sure, but is it worth the rist of getting a longer ban if it isn't legal?
Why doesn't he ring the DVLA and ask them on Monday to find out? They'll know 100%, it'll be guess work on here.

they will send you a letter syin you need to send your licence back. ive had first hand experience of it an have certanly learnt my lesson from it
but if he wanted he could do his test as soon as he wanted theres no set ban time

As he said more or less. As soon as you have received a letter revoking your licence you can apply for a new provisional and start again. There is no set ban time because it isnt a ban. Might as well be though by the time you have waited for a licence and resat your tests
