[quote="martin-reyland"]Thought it was about time I started a resto thread on my Cosworth powered Mondeo.... Cosmo! As some might remember the car got rolled at Bedford Autodrome in 2002, so five years on the rebuild starts..

[quote="martin-reyland"]further progress:

That is some top work there.
But it raises the question in my head - Would it not have been easier just to re-shell it?

Nope - car had been converted to 4wd IIRC?
Brilliant that they are doing it though, can't wait to see the finished article!

It proberly more tottally based on a saph 4x4 set up, with nothing bought over, as iirc it was a FWD shell

to answer peoples questions
[quote="martin-reyland"][quote="MD Cos"]good work :top: i've noticed however, that there are no pictures of the engine bay... at all! :cry: what front and rear suspension did you use? and was it easy enough to do?
:top:
I will post some pics of the bay when I get a moment. It uses Escort Cosworth front and rear suspension and it's not an easy job, only one Mondeo mechanical part was used and that was the water header tank! Non of the Escort parts bolted on...I might as well have done a different make car as there were no similarities at all.

When you did it the first time, did you use the 4wd shell just swap the running gear, or convert a standard one with saph/escos floorpan?
Can't wait to see it back in action!
Thanks, James
good question with no answer :wall: D:
It's a std Mondeo shell, I'm sure the 4x4 version is not that much different anyway. Everything is fabricated, no Sierra fllorpan here D: D:

I'm sure he didn't roll it on purpose, or put the Escort in the desert on it's roof intentionally

Nah, what I meant was that it was built as a road car, not a track car, that's why there's no cage.
It's supposed to look like a normal Mondeo.
He's got the Escort for trackdays anyway.
