This is a spirit from Brazil, similar to rum. It is made from distilled fermented sugarcane juice. It is different to rum because it isn't aged in oak barrels.
Only reason I ask, is my cousin-in-law works at Saatchi & Saatchi, and was one of the creatives working on Sagatiba's European ad campaigns a few years ago. We watched the programme in an Advertising lecture and reminded me that I'm now old enough to buy it
You can only get Sagatiba (brand of cachaça) online, so before I go spending £16-odd on a bottle, I wondered what it's like. . .

It's very sweet, hits you immediately, think the vol. is abot 40-45% but it's nice, caipirinha is better though if you can get hold of it as it's cachaça mixed with half a lime (4 wedges) and 2 teaspoons of Muscovado sugar, either that or paypal me the money and I'll bring it over in January.

Interesting. I looked in Sainsbury's today, and they didn't even have caipirinha.
Might get some Sagatiba off the net. I have never liked a liqueur up until now, and think I might actually like this one for some reason.
