What happened, I was approaching a roundabout & pug was in front.
Pug started pulling off, so did I, turned my head to look at the oncoming traffic then wham im in his rear.
He got out & said his car had died on him
My fault??

Oooo Colin, I know what it feels like. That PD130 engine must be jinxed - you get things running how you want to and then it goes and fucks life up
The main thing is your OK - cars a peice of metal that can be replaced.

hmmm normally yes 100% your fault, but if his car had mechanical failiure that led to an accident? tricky one
and iv heard insurance companies, are or are going to stop issuing 100% blame ont the person going into the back of another automatically

If he cut out, unless it was the battery the ignition would have still been on, meaning that brake lights would have still worked

Im 90% sure I saw no brake lights in the seconds before impact!
Anyway no point arguing that one out thats for the insurance to do.

also, you should of left enough space to tell that the car infront has stopped. so 100% your fault even if the car did conk out. you didnt leave enough room simple.

If youve got protected no claims dont worry about it mate
Insurance will deal with it all for you,get it all sorted . Were all human, we all make mistakes, you could sit there going "if only id left more room, if only id waited till he had gone etc".
Whats done is done, cant go back - you'll get ur car back with a fresh front end and a free hoover and wash

I looked on the bright side also Colin, and got a nice new flame red bumper and bonnet
Main thing is that no-one was hurt and your car will be repaired etc - it is amazing though how such a slow crash can do so much damage.
It is a tricky one in terms of who was to blame though. If it was found that his car was at fault, his insurance might not pay out. Most insurance say the car has to be road legal at all times i.e. running properly.
