Corsa your on about I think is no more. It was stripped a fair few years ago. Think it ran mid 10's. But theres a Mk2 Astra over there doing a low 10 sec 1/4 mile.

Oh yeah, just spotted...

10.2 NA 1/4 mile...

Thats running some serious nitrous!!!!!! No way will that using NA only power will make into the 10's.

Remember Gaz NA Corsa with around 220bhp off gas, and around 150+ Nitrous has only made a 11.8 odd.........

Thats a SERIOUSLY quick time. Must be running stupid amounts of nitrous and a full works spc 280+bhp engine before any Nitrous. Of which it must be running about 300+bhp happy gas on top......

And?????

Unless its running silly bhp, tell me how its gonna do a low 10 muppet???? Even running on a f-ing chain it wouldn't do a 10 sec 1/4

Yes, according to you homiettes, I know everything

tyres can play a big part in the grip vxr. look at all the civics in america doing 10's with not much bhp. all down to the massive stupid tyres.

tbh, it doesnt impress me much when cars have to run such illegal tyres to do the times. just shows how utterly pointless they would be to drive every day.

Any FWD doing 10's will still be in the 450-500+bhp region..... At the least.... Please do tell, how do you get that kinda power out of a NA 2.0 16v Redtop lump?

As you know all?

Why run a racing car on soft tyres that can't go on the road?

Its all relative.

its pointless replying to the ego that is daimo.

why does it NEED to be 450-500? it doesnt. theres a golf that does 10's and it has about 360bhp.

To make the power to pull the car down the strip.

Or is it going to be doing sub 100mph terminals.

Answer the question if you say im talking poop?

Why has a 2.0 16v corsa, NA, with 150bhp+ gas, on drag tyres, stripped, only managed a 11.8, and "your saying" that a NA only car, same car, same engine, can make a 10.2.

Logic anyone?

Golf doing high 10's had about 400bhp, and ran drag slicks...

Again, tell me how to even get 360bhp from a NA 2.0 16v engine, even though manufactures can't get much over 300?

Remember that the Corsa you mention is on a standard track, the one pictured above clearly has 4-6" of extra track, plus god knows what width wheels/tyres.

There are also many factors which cannot be seen, who knows what has been done to it?

Oh, you can also bet that South Africa is a damn site warmer than here, meaning the strip will also be hotter, giving better traction.

The UK is a long way behind other countries when it comes to 1/4 mile.

because an ihi conversion on a 20vt will struggle to make 400bhp. its the nature of the turbo im afraid. it has same conversio as my friends ibiza which struggled to make just under 350.

again, you will know this alreay though

Oh yeah, we're well behined, but that corsa I've pictured ran quite a lot of HP and ran into mid 10's. Thats with basically a full drag Corsa shell as well. As I say, theres an astra Mk2 GTE running low 10's, but as far as im aware, thats a 500+hp engine.

Tracks warmer, thus grippier, but a 10's on a NA 4 pot engine. Thats some SERIOUS power, or a seriously heavy tail wind, extra grippy track, and the driver nailing the launch spot on. Still can't see those kinda times though, not without some kinda happy gas in there.

Still, whatever the spec, thats a brilliant time, a lifetime away from GAZ's sub 12 effort (which lets face it, thats what all the FWD boys are aiming for)>

I think even Andy Nichols on a 500+bhp FI motor, is only doing mid 10's now!!!!
