Just watching a Top Gear repeat on Dave where Clarkson test drives the new 911 Turbo. He continously mentions it about being a supercar, comparing to to Ferraris and such.

Is it just me or not, because I don't seem to see any Porsche 911's as the stereotypical supercar. . .

I still don't see the GT3 as a supercar. Or the Gt3 RS, I see tham as, track cars

All I mean, is the look, the road presence, doesn't make it look like a supercar, like a Ferrari. I think it's because you have to know your Porsche's, to know which one is better than the other.

Evo always have had trouble with the 911 in their back pages.

someone wrote in the other month and questioned it and they said something like "we always have seen the normal 911s as sports cars, but the GT3/RS/Turbo all have figures which mean they go in the supercars section"

It's not just you Dean, even the pros don't always agree

The GT3 RS is as fast as an F430 Stradale IIRC, so if the Ferrari is a supercar, the Porsche has to be really.

It's hard to categorise alot of cars now, so many cars performing more than one task.

I think it's cos you tend to see Porches a lot more than Ferraris and other supercars, so they almost kinda blend in a bit

Tom - I hope note

Mike - I think you might be right.

I think the fact that they are quite small also plays a part. Most Ferarri's seem much much bigger.

Turbo and the GT's are super cars. The others are GT's or sports cars IMO.

Its a supercar but just not as loud and proud as Ferrari's, Lambo's, Zonda's etc.

Lovely cars.
