I'm currently paying about 1700 a year for insurance, I'm 25, no points/accidents etc. Anyway, insurance is ready to renew in Jan so I thought I'd get some quotes on cars in the same insurance group to see if I'm being bent over.
Here's what I found:-
BMW M3 £1185
Ferrari F355 £1267
911 C4 £1358
Gallardo £2210
SL55 AMG £1510
This is shocking, my quote was by far the cheapest - A lot of Evo's get written off/stolen at the moment but I'm seriously thinking of jacking it in and buying something else after seeing this

Go for it. Cheaper insurance for what is a more expensive car!
must just be because of young people being too confident in them and a lot of write offs etc

I think the main problem is a load of Evo's have been stolen over the past year in house robberies - now I'm not saying those other car's aren't but I reckon this has something to do with it. Did a quote on a Focus RS, came out at £700

Exactly how I feel, mate. Mine expires 13/11/07 and I'm seriously just considering getting a normal car. You gotta ask yourself is it worth it.

I don't want a normal boring car, just thinking Evo's are becoming tougher and more expensive to insure.

Joke aint it.
4wd, safer than a 2wd.
Same 2.0 16v Turbocharged engine (all be it with more power).
Has 4 doors.
Yet we pay only £650-£700 for both of us on the astra, the works, legal, yadder blah..
Having said that, NO insurance company would stop me getting a car based on insurance prices. Wouldn't have some company dictate what car I can and cannot buy becuase of what they charge me. IF that means lubing and raping, so be it. If I REALLY wanted the car/bike, i'd have it.
Don't let the syndy mofos put u off.

FFS, I didn't want this to turn into a conversation how Imprezas are "normal". They're no more normal than a fucking evo.
The fact is, they're group 20 cars, mega-desirable to thieves and fast as fuck. Roll all that into being aged 23, it doesn't go down well. Fuck you CR7.

Nah I'm not put off by it Daimo and would pay anything really if I want the car. Just can't understand their thinking when mine costs £500 more to insure than a Ferrari The 911 looks tempting though, cheaper running costs than the Evo too and fantastic residuals.

The "normal cars" i'm considering are ones like yours, joe. A fraction of the cost to insure. Boring as hell, but I suppose that's what you gotta live with

But surely an S3 is no more normal than an Impreza... assuming both are standard.... infact I know many who have changed to Subaru for more doors
