if it was the later, the car would have passed no problem... Driving in the middle of your own lane is very common in scotland, not sure about england though

sounds like a very dangerous way of driving from both parties...

Middle of the road on blind bends, too stop someone passing on blind bends...

Thats a good samartin for you... much rather kill himself being on the wrong side of the road (on a blind bend) than simple slowing a touch to let a car past! Its common courtesy! If the other guy is driving like a prick, get out of his way, not get into it.

I didn't mean driving in the middle of your own lane; I meant driving with your offside wheels on the lines; offset from the centre of your own lane towards the centre of the road

i dont buy it that he was driving in the middle of the road to stop him overtaking on blind bends etc, more likely he saw the guys being an ass, and decided to be an ass back by blocking them.

It's even in the Highway Code. You should pull in and let a car past if they wish to overtake you on a lane.

It's even in the Highway Code. You should pull in and let a car past if they wish to overtake you on a lane.

quote:

168
Being overtaken. If a driver is trying to overtake you, maintain a steady course and speed, slowing down if necessary to let the vehicle pass. Never obstruct drivers who wish to pass. Speeding up or driving unpredictably while someone is overtaking you is dangerous. Drop back to maintain a two-second gap if someone overtakes and pulls into the gap in front of you.

This the section that you're referring to?

or this:

Do not hold up a long queue of traffic, especially if you are driving a large or slow-moving vehicle. Check your mirrors frequently, and if necessary, pull in where it is safe and let traffic pass.

i do understand the point of view that he shouldnt have blocked them from overtaking but since when in the highway code does it say - if someone does do something to annoy you whilst driving, you should get some mates together and chase after them in a very aggressive and threatening manner.also please, if safe to do so, get out of your car and attack the person in question with metal bars.

i dont remember a question coming up on my theory test like that?anyone else?

please correct me if i'm wrong, because i shall need to remember this next time i see anyone driving in such a way.

Is the reason this guy who was trying to overtake went after the other guy cause he was sitting in the middle of the road stopping from overtaking?

Id be pretty annoyed if someone sat in the middle of the road in front of me, especially if I was in a hurry for some reason. Its the guy whos trying to overtake whos driving like a dick, his fault if he crashes. Whats the worst your going to have to do? Brake and let him in?

absolutely right, but more often than not there are two sides to the story, and the initial facts sometimes turn out to be fairly different then expressed in the first place

I agree with steve, maybe the saxo was trying to overtake and the guy tried to ram him off the road. Then made excuses up on car forums saying he was only trying to prevent him from overtaking and losing his life.

You never know what actually happened unless you was there. Yeah I agree its wrong to smash up someones car and chase them etc etc
