just wrang up vauxhall to order a CV boot for the car.

Apparently they cant give me one as theyre not sure what shafts im using

Ive told then its a C20xe on an F16, and i thought surely if they're vauxhall they could work out what shafts will of been used for the set up.

Anyone know what shafts are used? I mean like the name or whatever.

I can get a universal one but theyre a bit shitty because you have to glue them together and through experience ive found they like to split a lot.
Cheers

cheers yeh.

I told the guy they'd either be shafts designed to the spec of 1998cc engines - but just made shorter to fit in a nova, or would be 1600cc gte/gsi shafts as theyre the shafts that fit in f16/f20 boxes

but even that easnt enough for him

what does he actually want me to find out is what im thinking. Fooking vauxhall so annoying.

Think of it this way. At least he is making sure that you get the right parts, rather than send out any old crap and hope you don't notice

very true. Just had a major thought.

As xe engines were all the ame spec in cavs (like till 1992) and mk2 astras, if i ring up vauxhall and say give them the registration for a cav gsi, that should come up with the right CV boot shouldn't it?

or what if i give them the engine number - could they look it up from that?

you need to know what shafts and cv's you defo has,,

as if using nova shafts, they will be thinner than big block one's and cv's may be slightly diff too
