Two of the teams are undergoing investigation & may be disqualified for technical irregularities, if so Hamilton would move to 4th thus winning the championship
Just been on the news now, was "breaking news". Nothing on the BBC site yet but could be promising!

It'd be a hollow victory if that happened.

It would seem it yeah, but if they've cheated then the usual penalty is to be disqualified
Comes down to who has the most points & it'd be unfair not to award him the points if someone else has cheated

From a team point of view I'd imagine they prefer to have a champion rather than a certain driver
Did seem they made some poor choices through the season though

It's happened before, but I'm not sure a championship has been riding on it.

But there was a late twist when it emerged race stewards were investigating the fuel used by Williams and BMW Sauber, whose cars filled fourth, fifth and sixth places.
If they are disqualified, Hamilton would move up to fourth, giving him enough points to win the world title.

Stewards are independant, plus the teams & drivers involved wouldn't just let it happen
Drivers involved:
4. Nico Rosberg (Ger) Williams-Toyota
5. Robert Kubica (Pol) BMW Sauber
6. Nick Heidfeld (Ger) BMW Sauber

TBH, if they've cheated, there's not a lot the FIA can do other than disqualify them, it would be unfair not to, rules are rules and all that.
I'm sure the stewards will find that they 'weren't cheating' though.

Sounds a little bit of an odd thing to pull the teams up on
According to BBC News24, it's to do with the storage of fuel, and the 2 teams being investigated not storing them at 10 degrees below ambient temperature, like the rule states

Ah, they were storing it cooler so the fuel was denser and you can get more in a tank, meaning more laps between stops.

Button got a tug last season for having a secret petrol tank didn't he?
