whats the deal with welding wheels like? i no these are steel so may be different but someone came into work the other day with an alloy off a supra and asked me to weld a part of it. i told him where to stick it as didnt wont to be responsible for a wheel goin bang @ 100mph caused by the haz from the welding process

wheels are welded to make them wider, its called banding, its perfectly safe as long as they have a good continuous weld and they are balanced up correctly. they have been done like this for years, my dad had his done on his rallying mk1 escort back in the late 70's.
remember normal steel wheels are made with a welding/pressing process and you dont see them falling to bits
