When you pick wheels, do you go for something you know will look reasonably good, or do you take a risk and go for something which could go 2 ways, either looking shit, or looking absolutely amazing?

I've got dish already

Anyway, I don't mean my car, I mean generally, most people seem to play it safe, not a lot of people go for a wheel which hasn't been done before, it's not just on here either, it's the same on a lot of forums.

I like to take a risk really. When I bought my wheels from Willay none of my mates liked them, but I bought them anyway and once they were sprayed white and on my car they all agreed it was a good choice.

when you go pick them up just try one on the car. if you like it then buy them, if you don't then just leave.

i took the risk and lost!

i kno the Irmscher route isnt uniquie but throughout my pimp/modding/customising/personalising of my car i've tried ot be discreetly diffferent to other Corsas. The Gamma wheels i loved when i saw them, and i'm still to see anyone else with them dispite being Vaux/Irmy made and a straight bolt on feature (49ET).

I've had plenty of "nice looking car but change/i dont like the wheels" or similar posts on this site. but i love em cos their unique!!

Take a risk, especially in the VW world anything can be made to look amazing.

My new wheels are a bit of a risk but not going to jump out in your face either.

i kind of took a risk with mine

liked the style and i was after 5 spokes as i believe them to be the neatest looking wheel design. but i couldnt see mine in white as they didnt make them

i knocked up some mock pictures in photoshop but they never quite looked as good as the finished product when they were put on the car

i was really pleased with the way they turned out which was a good thing cos i coudlnt have sent them back after having them coated

same here, it's always on car forums too, love it when someone goes a country mile to be different and it looks absolutely shit, then they justify it by saying "no one else as it", there is generally a fucking good reason for that.

Back on topic, with photoshop and the likes no wheels really a risk, but i've i had money to buy what i wanted i'd play it safe, both my last cars its been what can get for a good price or do the best with what i had.

That's not always true. It needs to be a split rim, then everyone will love it whatever the centre looks like.
