Considering getting some for my car but want to learn more about them first

the number of the cam i.e 264 is the camshafts duration or how long the cam holds the valve open for.
the lift of the cam i.e 10.4mm is how high it will lift the valve.
the longer the valve stays open for and the further it opens the more air/fuel mix you can get into the combustion chamber.
the cam profile you go for depends on your engine spec, if you need any advice or prices on cams feel free to call me at Vsport, number is in my sig

Just read through your guide, very good
Getting my engine fitted with a mantzel when its rebuilt with some arp's. Was going to add an exhaust manifold and get my engine remapped with a raised rev limit.
Just wondering if something like a set of 264 cams would compliment this setup well. If they are setup properly where would i expect to see the power band and what kind of gains would i see?

Still considering doing this.
What cams would people recomend for an x16xe running a mantzel, 421 manifold, exhaust, ported and polished head with a 7.5k rev limit?

go for some schrick or newman 264's. both a very good profile but newmans are far cheaper. can do you a set for £300

dave can you give me a price on a set of vernier pullys as well?
Also would the 264's be drivable without the remap for a few weeks until the remap is done?

pulleys are £170. 264's are great for drivability with nice smooth idle.

MBE is cheap, Omex alot of people can map but more expensive, same with DTA, Emerald have a good reputation

I have used most management systems, Omex is good but I am dissapointed by one paticular feature on the new omex 600, wouldnt buy one again.
the new emerald stuff is fantastic, mapped a TVR with it on and was really impressed. would definitely buy and sell/map it over any of the other systems out there.
I found MBE to be shit personally.

get 260 or 264 degree, neman cams are suppost to be good
dont worry about vernier pulleys, there the last 2-3bhp, not necessary, and would need setting up.

I was under the impression it would run like a bag of shit without them due to them been slightly out etc???

What set up is that?
My spec at the moment is leaning towards
Mantzel
arp bolts
sbd rollers (maybe if i can find some)
421 manifold
decat
port and polished head
remap with 7.5k rev limit
Just need to decide whether to get cams and if i should go for 260 or 264
