I can see your employer being arsey about it - worth losing a job over?
Maybe exercise a little more care when withdrawing money in the future? i.e make sure you have X amount in there first.
I'd speak to the wages department about it and ask them politely to rectify it and ensure wages are paid on time in the future but not try and claim the charges back or anything or it could all get shittty!

They may be sympathetic but they have no obligation as its up to you to maintain your accoutn and a few days shouldn't make that much difference but any decenrt employer will refund

If its in your contract that you get paid on a certain date, if you dont get paid on that date and DD's fail as a result then yes you are more than entitled to claim the charges back
But if it was happening month after month common sense says to move the date of your DD's and monitor your outgoing more carefully so you dont get charged in the first place
