my dad used to go, the last time he went they took the bandage off and the blood squirted right up apparently. he later found out he has aplastic anaemia which means your blood doesn't clot properly

it was nothing to do with the giving blood that he had it, don't worry.

he'd been doing it for years and it really is a good cause i really need to pluck the courage up to go but i'm abit squeemish, or at least i used to be, not so bad anymore

Same here, i used to be a bit girly around needles, but now im better, or atleast i think i am, at coping with them

It is a good thing to do imo, hence wanting to do it.

Are the lesser quantaties the rarer blood groups?

I was looking on the site linked above ^ and it says something about making an appointment, so it may have to wait for a little bit seeing as the Queens Med is quite a walk away

I'm not sure if you can go to the hospital and do it?

The place I know of in town has people queuing down the stairs.

They used to come into my old secondary school and blag on about it, but never took notice of what they were saying since seeing mates was more of what everyone thought the meeting was for

They have regular sessions in your local town... they advise people to book appointments as you wait for ages to be seen

But you can just go along to your local session

They'll send you reminders when you can do it next, too. I've never found it painful or uncomfortable or anything, the needle doesn't even really hurt.

Spend a night in Plymouth, you'll always end up giving blood that way
