Seriously wanting to lower my car -40mm. This will probably be just on springs as I can't afford anything else. This isn't a question as to what is better in terms of springs + dampers etc.

I just want to know, on my standard 13" Softstars, with the 165/70 tyres, will there be any scrubbing when carrying 2 passengers in the rear, plus luggage?

Thanks

Also, after lowering, does the tracking need to be sorted? And do the headlights need adjusting?

I had no problems with -40mm springs and ET45 7x16s with 195/45 16 tyres, so you'll be fine.

You've got a deal. I'm pretty sure I could do the rears, but the fronts look a bit confusing. Plus I haven't got axle stands/proper jack.

Waiting on a call from insurance company as to the increase. I don't think they will

fitted in the summer (still to post the photos i know!)

piece of piss to fit and i'll offer my help too if required (you've got my number.

In terms of insurance mine went up £70 (22 on 1yr NCB all mods declared renewal May 07 was £370) so its a full job for £300. i know that is a lot to a student but its worth it!!

lol I know, I remember you mentioning at the meet.

The only reason why I worry about the insurance is because I can't afford not to have a car, or pay out if in the insurance doesn't for a 3rd party.

Also, in terms of springs. Not too expensive, not cheap and nasty, what are the best to go for?

Well, this won't be happening.

My insurance company said I'd need to cancel the policy and start a new one. The result, £2k's worth of insurance, as opposed to £700 that I'm paying at the moment.

So in theory, they want £1.3k for me to lower my car
