Guy i know took his 3 year old 1.6 audi a3 in for a minor service, oil, filter, pollen filter and screenwash, at a local audi dealer.
When he picked it up, aswell as the minor service they had to replace 4 disks on his brakes.
guess the final price he was charged?

Over a grand?
Did they consult him about the brakes, or did they just do them?

That's 1140 good reasons not to buy a newish car IMO.

You can still do the work yourself if you think they are expensive.

Parts cost more most of the time Andrew.
A steering rack for my old Corsa would have been £300 plus VAT, for my Golf, it's about £58 inclusive.
Not forgetting all the special tools you need to buy because they've used a special type of bolt that no-one has got a socket for for each part.

Yeah the tools are a pain in the arse
I've always got work done under the warentry tbh. Things like brake pads, tyres and fluids i've done myself.

Must be some rich yuppy motherfuckers that own these cars or something.

That's not to bad that Jake. They pick your car up from work, clean it and service it, and then deliver it back.
