I am really pissed off about it

I am waiting on parts and equipment to complete around £4k worth of work on customers cars. I wont get any of it until wednesday so I will be quiet for 4 days then a mad rush to clear 6 days worth of work so that it doesnt over-run into the week after.

I have also sent birthday cards and ordered presents for someone that wont be there on their birthday so I will look like a right tit.

its not about pay or conditions, its because they are planning on automating parcel sorting processes meaning lots of people would be out of jobs.

i think people would be pissed off if this happened to them aswell

They should have tried harder at school and not got such a shit job which makes them so easily replacable by a machine then.

but what they are doing doesnt help anyone, If I was the boss at Royal Mail I would do whats best for the company and if the staff spit their dummy out and piss off on strike everytime they arent happy then I would look to get the automated machines in a lot sooner.

Going on strike is pathetic and childish. Also there is no definite plans or facts to say that people would lose thir jobs, its all in the planning stage from what I have read.

Its the fault of the Unions. people that join (certain) unions are often very narrow minded and are like sheep. if the Unions say strike they go on strike rather than making their own mind up about the situation.

another note about strike action, a large company I used to work for were desperate for skilled master joiners, there were none in the area (durham) on the scale that they needed (30 + jobs) so they advertised the jobs in london.

They employed 20 polish joiners, all were fantastic, turned up on time, first to clock in, first back from lunch, last out at night and their workmanship was perfect in every way. Great lads to work with and get on with. for 3 months they worked so well that management used them to train some of the british lads. in respect of that the ones giving the training had a pay rise.

British joiners didnt like that at all, Union were called in and they all went on strike, except the polish joiners. 6 months later management had sacked over 50 of the joiners and replaced them with joiners from all over europe, productivity went up, profits went up, company was more succesfull.

profits went up because they will work for fuck all

there are polish plumbers working round here for £8.00 an hour doing 10 hour days 7 days a week

they ruin the working conditions for the local people and take the jobs, they pay little to no tax and send all the money back home

and as for the postal strike, the post men have no choice wether or not to strike, my mate is a post man and is pissed off that next week he will have twice as many bags to carry and half the wages

it is a very ill thought out strike imo

Dave, I worked at PENZOIL many years ago and had to join the Union, I had no choice, according to law they cannot force you to join but, if you don't they can and do make life very difficult eg: my forklift was constantly blocked by trucks and my forklift battery was removed and a lot more things that would take a lot more time to write here. It's the union bosses usually, not so much the people forced to join.
