i understand the idea to tune the 1.4... mates got a renault 5 turbo so 1.4 beasts are allways but just seems so pricey...wud it not be better to turbo a 1.6 though?

you might laugh, but even my mate who is used to drivin powerful redtops says for a 1.4 its a rocket. 1.4 16v, 8v flywheel, x10xe gearbox, 1.6 corsa gsi ecu and wiring loom, decat exhaust system, and air filter.

not much more than mine i would say you couldnt be running more 105 bhp if that, i would say youd be on par with mine which is 97.5 which is NOT a rocket

You could do so many mods to the x14xe but the standard 1.6 would still be faster.

The 1.4 16v's are a good engine, pretty nippy IMO, but not worth spending lots of money on tuning TBH, lots of people on here have done it and regreted it.

I have one and I've drawn the line to not go further than my inlet manifold.

1.6 might be common but heard they very cheap to get hold of!

best bet it most definately throttle bodies mate...if cars striped and got gud mods on at moment tb's shud see really gud results i shud think!

i went to a rally show last weekend to find 2 corsas and 2 novas...both corsas running a X14XE lump and one of the novas with X14XE plus throttle bodies...alll coming 1st and 2nd of there class in the stages theyve done this year. the last nova had its standard gsi lump in it...just thought will have to get sum pics up soon keep us posted though on wot u do mate wud be great to see a rocket of a 1.4

the conversion done by regal will cost around £4000, you might see 150 bhp from your 1.4

so does it seem worth it ? £4000 for 50 bhp ? you can get nos for about 600 with 50bhp jets

either way, you want a quick corsa, do the treid and tested method XE !

or if budget allows a LET

imo, you would be better off finding a low millage 1600 sport engine, adding your bits and peices and then add a few more to it and see over 140 with out wasting thousands of pounds !
