Made plans with a good mate last week to go on a 2 day fishing session this weekend (fri and sat night). I know he's low on cash at the mo and he's spent a fair bit of money on supplies for the trip like beer, food, stuff from the tackle shop etc, probably over 50 quid. Last week i was well up for it as i've not been fishing for ages but now i'm not too keen on it.
Just to make it worse i've had 2 texts off another 2 good mates, 1 saying its his birthday piss up on friday and the other saying there is a night out in manchester on sat and pretty much all the old crew from my teens will be out.
Really dont know what to do. I've not been on the lash properly for a while and i've got 2 nights out that i'd love to partake in but i also dont want to let the first guy down.
I'm probably gonna get slated for being a cunt here but i still want opinions so what would you lot do?

if his mate was low on funds then spent it all on stuff for the fishing trip then he wont have money for a pissup. nothing worse then people lettin u down rite at the last minute

i know but i dont think he'll think i'm lame just for that tbh but he'll definately be pissed off. it is pretty selfish if i let him down though. although all the stuff he's spent money on will keep for the next trip.

Sorry, but birthdays are a priority, its good to have your mates around.
Whatever you do, don't lie and say your ill or something, he'll find out and be super pissed off.

Be honest with him, say you aren't feeling up for a fishing trip this weekend and ask to do it next weekend. Or tell him about the nights out and say that you really want to go out as 1. its a bday and 2. old mates from teen years, I'm sure if he is a good mate he will understand. He may even come with you.

he's just gonna stay in all weekend if i let him down as he's skint so i dont think i can do that to him. thing is tho he's happily engaged and i'm single so need to be out on the pull rather than spending the weekend with a bloke!

Go fishing, you have agreed to, your friend is looking forward to it. You will probably enjoy it too. Take some food and beers and make your own party

stop contradicting yourself.
Go fishing, hes spent the only money he had to get the stuff to make it fun. You can have a weekend out any other time, wont be many times you go for a fishing trip.

Your mate asked you to go fishing first. Don't be an arse and fuck him of because you got a better offer. Think of the money you will save and also he has gone to some effort so stick with the fishing.
If you don't then be honest with him as said before he will find out more than likely and be pissed off.

Probablly have a better time fishing anyway. I know i would, im fucking fed up of clubbing every weekend at the same place, same people, same bars, same waste of money
