Running cars in nowadays isn't as important as it used to be, most are done at the factory although it doesn't hurt to take it easy for the first 6-700 miles.

New cars tend to have instructions in the handbook i.e no more than 3000rpm for x amount of miles then 4000rpm and no more than 100mph etc etc

Rebuilt engines, everyone seems to have different opinions, too much low revs can cause bad ring seal etc, best to do some research and find out what people have tried and tested.

Yes...i have a book who describe the process, it says is dangerous, no ring seal on idlle or low rpms for the first xxx km.

I'll search the book and post here.

I'd take it steady for 500 regardless of cars being run in at the factory. I still don't think a car is fully loosened up until about 15-20k.

Ditto, i wouldnt be taking it to the limiter for a good few thousand K.

My bro has a Astra 1.9CDTi 150, IMHO it doesnt feel any guicker than my Remapped Vectra 2.2DTi SRi 130, it only has 5K on the clock so im guessing its still tight.

My point exactly unless your planning on trading it privately let the dealership pick up the bill, everyone else does it!
