well they're 9.5 as standard (apparently)

so i guess with good grip you could get it down to nearer 8.

you'd be better off raising the rev limiter or fitting a longer ratio box that lets it get to 60 in 2nd gear, cos you probs lose a couple of seconds going from 2nd gear to 3rd as it'll only do about 55ish (on clocks) in 2nd

well i think i will be getting the rev limit raised after i fit some cams, as i will be getting a re map also

just wondering is there any cheap ecu chips out there that can just raise the limit, until i get the cams and re map, say raise it to 7500 or is tht too high with standard bolts??

ARP rod bolts would be the best bet.

Then, MSD in blackpool do mapping for the x16xe. Costs about £275 and thats a proper live mapping session. Better than any chip you can buy as it takes into account your mods.

lifted from another post:

I didnt have ARPs.
I had a 7200rpm rev limit.
I drove my car HARD every day.
It never broke a bolt.

Definitely get some SBD rollers though, they're worth it.

Superchips raise the rev limit iirc.

But, you may aswell wait until you've got all your mads done then get it mapped.

Forgot to add, MSD re-map the standard ECU.

Superchips dont raise the limit unless you specifically ask them to do so.

You can ASK superchips to re-program/chip the ecu to have a higher rev limit.
If you dont ask, they leave the limit standard.

I nearly got past a 2003 M3 the other day in my 1.6. there was nothing in it until 130mph when I hit the limiter at 8100 rpm in 5th.

beat an evo 5 on the way home today as well.

all I need now is an airdam front bumper.
