I have worked on lots of evo 4's and 5's. We always find problems, never cheap to fix.

in standard form they arent that quick, a well setup 1.6 corsa on tb's will give them a good run for their money and even push them along on a straight. dont know how I know that though

Crankwalk, or "the walking crankshaft", happens when the crankshaft starts moving around its housing. This causes the crankshaft to, at some point or another, wear into the thrust bearing heavily. This will cause the crank to eventually move a plate that will smash into the crank angle sensor, break it, and shut the car down.

my mate has an evo4, the running costs are fine, but he's spent over a grand in 3weeks modding it.

they do have crank problems tho, but instead of modding, get the engine internals uprated

Evos aint as bad as people make them out to be We have had our Evo4 for a good 6+months now and it gets used well always gets ragged about and has never missed a beat They are made to be ragged

Engine is sound, Service is a bastard from mist as its so dear but thats the joys with any performance car i suppose

ours runs around 350bhp Just dont bugger the clutch as its just shy of £1000 from mitsy for a new one

Were thinking of a Evo8 now

evo 4 or evo 5 i was thinking about
or a r33 single turbo rwd
"what i can afford"

the skyline has a nicer interior, which with me, is a plus.
