They dont, I own one as a run around an ive nearly crashed it so many times because ive pulled out of a junction only to realise its only got 6bhp and just wont move out the way. Even if the car was a mile away when i pulled out.

they arent that slow, when i was looking around to get one i test drove a few and if they are running right they should have a good turn of speed.
no idea what on earth the control module is hanging over the inlet?

Seeing as you can spin up a 1.0 12v i'm sure you can spin up a TDI nicely, seeing as they have a fuck load more torque.
