How do you go about doing this?
I REALLY need to get mine done, as if it went missing, I'd get about a grand for it, which clearly is wrong.
Does it make the policy more expensive?
and who is the best company to use for it?

Think it would put the price up quite a bit...Say your golf is worth 1k to them but want to insure for 3k agreed value, a lot more risk for the insurers.

HIC do it i think mate. With mine they sent me a form which took ages to fill in, they wanted photocopies of everything i had and pics of every mod.
They then rung me saying what they would insure it for against what i put. I cant say how much extra it cost me though as i am not too sure (didnt do a non agreed value quote before)

Excellent, I'll try them then, cheers Chris.
Steve, sounds like a lot of hassle, but worth it I suppose.
Mav, the only reason I'd get a grand is because they'd think it was a mk2, going by the reg, and they're worth less cash

Mine is done every year with HIC - they have agreed a value of £4500.
I have to provide receipts, 6+ photographs including engine/interior and all sides. Full detialed list of modifications including dates and prices.
They cover items which are both on and not fitted to the car so long as they are included in the valuation report.
It cost £15 for the administration fees and the policy is approximately £50 more than if I didnt have the agreed valuation.
If the car is damaged it is repaired like for like, or if parts are unavailable to a spec agreed by me,

Good job I've got a massive folder of reciepts then
£50 sounds good to me, I think I can stretch to that.
