I need a full day off next week for a dentist appointment. My work have told me I need to use a day off my annual leave
Is this right, I'd rather take a day's unpaid leave and save my holidays for next month when me and Colin are hoping for a wee holiday. Are employers duty bound to give paid time off for dentist/doctors appointments

I'm not sure, usually they just let you go, but as it's a full day, they might be able to ask you to take leave.

I've got a doctors appointment tomorrow at 3 but its 20 odd miles away
Offered to take a half day, but they said it was fine.
No idea what they'd say about a full day

my work would let me have the whole day so long as i show them proof of the appointment. Not sure if this is cause they have to or if they are just decent employers.
