The xr2 is a good choice aswell, what about xr3?

I think it's generally people who are 18 or younger these days who won't appreciate them. I grew up with R5GTT being on the front cover of Max Power every other week.

Im only 19 now, and have appreciated these sorta cars for a while. If i ever see a r5 about and point it out to any of my mates they laugh tbh. Im the only one of my mates into cars though

205 with an Mi16 is the way to go

fords are rust buckets i had a few xr2i both rotted away because of side skirts

mk1 golf or mk2 also good

r5 turbo pants as well they all been given death since new.

Depends what your budget is really. You could get a Mk II XR2, like this:

for a reasonable price, but don't expect it to be anything less than high maintenance

Edit: Don't expect it to be left hand drive either.

Or if you want proper old school, and have a few pennys to spare, get a MkI Supersport:
