Time for the 44k service on my skoda, now it currently has full Skoda Service History so my first thought was to keep it that way, phoned up skoda for a price, this isnt a major service btw. Whats involved
Air filter
Pollen Filter
Oil and Filter
Screenwash
Replenish sump washer
general look over car and strip down brakes and clean
£270
Do i do it to keep the FSSH or go elsewhere and just make it FSH?

Sounds a hell of a lot to me. I highly doubt they will strip down the brakes, I'd imagine the wheels won't even come off the car. As it has discs all round theres no point doing much else than peeping through the wheels to check the pads.
Thats basically an hour to 1.5 hours work tops. Just depends if the stamp is worth it.
Why not just do it all yourself bar the oil and filter and see if a normal garage will do oil and filter and stamp the book for you?

personally i wouldnt pay that much just so it could keep the fssh because when you come to sell it i doubt the person would be that bothered with it having a fssh or a fsh.

I would'nt bother, you will get a better service elsewhere and cheaper if you take it to an independant.
But its your car and your money so its up to you.

Steve normally with a car that age i would go with main dealer history till it was a few years older.
however in a couple of years time a skoda VRS will be a even better 2nd hand bargain then it is now, and should be very easy to shift with or witout main dealer history.

Find a specialist or any VAT registered garrage, and as long as they use genuine parts they can stamp your service history.

Vaux are after £250 to do a 20,000 mile service on my corsa. So yeah sounds ok from a dealer.
Can i just ask Steve, what are the service intervals on the Skoda VRS. I really fancy one of these!
