lookin at going into an apprentaship (sp) but cant decide what to do.
really want to do mechanics but not to sure about the future it has got in it.
or an electrical installation one.

the electrical installation one would be a logical choice as i have allready done a year at college doing this an there will always be a need for electricians but i wouldnt mind doing mechanics.

what would be your oppinions on this???

cheers

Ive done my 3 years in mechanics in colllege and i can truely say i wish i done something better. and i finished college in 2002 and modern cars are more electrics and computer crap thesse days so what ive learned is only really good for older model cars.

Theres not much money in basic car mechanics anyway.

More money in electrical installation i would of thought.

im just fiishing my mechanical engineering course, and it was quite good looking back, only took 4 years due to a mess up with the college, but otherwise worth doing. Learnt a helluva lot, but had the advantage of excellent tutors and highly skilled guys in my workshop.

Also doing an HNC along side the apprenticeship, and now only have the last year of that to complete now.

Moneywise i cant comment as im doing it for the Home Office, so pay compared to industry pay is abit off. But find a good company who will pay for the training and support you fully in your education and your laughing really

Out of the two I would say electrician.

I have friends who are mechanics who play hell about the motor trade, managers, salesman and customers. Yet they won't do anything about it. Most of the time conditions aren't very good either.

Careers centre in town is where I applied for mine.

You could go to the local college, look in the paper to see if firms are advertising or even ring a few companies up.

Idealy people want school leavers. I was 3 months short of my 18th birthday and a lot of places said I was too old for their requirements! They generally say between 16 and 21 for aprenticeships.

Apprenticeships are so hard to get up here, im having to work as a laborer till next year, as theres no apprenticeships at all.

Not even guaranteed for one next year, just gotta try again

Electrician btw, iirc they make the best money out of the trades while an apprent.
