You made your car sound like an alcoholic

'drink is all that sorts the problems out, one pint just isnt enough'

Thing is i dont see the point in spending 200 notes on getting that done when it doesnt affect the running of the car?!?!?!,just the light on all the time is annoying, probably easier to take the bulb out

Does the EGR not cause problems when accelerating, like going past 70 for example?

I know mine did

the egr valve will eventually effect the running of your engine as as if its siezes open the car will not idle the revs will just continue to keep droping until the car stalls, if it is siezed closed it will be ok as it is basically only the same as blanking the egr valve like people do when they fit inlets

you shelled out money to buy things for the car to make it look more aesthetically pleasing. that doesn't affect the running of the car either?

the redex goes throu the fuel pump filter,
then the lines, aswell as the normal filter
then throu the injectors
then gets burnt in the combustion chamber

i fail to see if any gets near the egr valve
hence its name
exhaust gas recirculation

it wont 'blast through the EGR' as someone said.

the egr valve has a feeed from the exhaust port in cylinder 4. it uses vaccum from cylinder 4 in the lower part of the inlet manifold to 'suck' a small amount of exhausted combustion gas through the valve and into the throttle body so that it can be put back into the induction system and reburned through all 4 cylinders. this reduces fuel consumption and hydrocarbons when there is no throttle applied, the main component in the 'ecotec' system.

I fail to see how using redex will help remove carbon deposits from the EGR tracts in the head or the valve itself as once it gets to the stage of being used in the EGR process it has already been burned, and it is now a carbon deposit itself.

thats my geeky tech lesson for this evening, more tomorrow.
