My big cousin is wanting an Impreza but not sure what one to get. He basically wants all out performance and doesn't mind creature comforts. My dad suggests a newage STi (01 onwards) but I suggest a late classic shape JDM STi. What would you all suggest?*
HE DOESN'T WANT AN EVO

2dr
Def would have to be an STi TypeR...
latest version you can find.... faster than a P1, better spec etc.
RA is also good but the R just looks better and has some more toys whilst still being a B road missle. 0-60 in 4.3 sound good?

RB5 - No point, same as a UK Turbo
P1 - Watered down Type-R
My choice would be an STi Version 6 Type-RA. Same spec as the 2 door Type-R, DCCD, blue printed red top engine, roof scoop, but has a stiffer chassis due to it being 4 door. 4 door is also lighter. - This is from what I've read and is the general opinion.

if the 4dr is the stiffer chassis why didnt they use it for rallying WRC....
2dr is stiffer..
4dr RA is lighter than 2dr R though... more weight stripped, more toys in R

Yeah it would have to be ab RB5 PPP if anything. I think the two best options are the Type R and RA. Adam does the Type R have dccd?

RB5 isnt that good at all.... just a special UK version... not a touch on the JDM specials
TypeR has DCCD as standard yes, IC water spray... all the same as RA..
The RA is just a bit more hard core... lighter... some have shorter gearing and quicker racks too..
Make sure it's an STi RA with no options to bring the weight up though or its pointless I'd get an R though
