picked up my astra coupe last night after a 4 month search for one with all the right bits. it's a silver 1.8 with heated red leather, turbo alloys, air con and a few irmy parts. big step up the car ladder as over 3+ years of driving i've only had a 1.2 8v corsa b and 2 c's fastest being a 1.2 sxi.

Lovely cars imo, i went to buy a gold 1.8 coupe last year, sorted out the finance etc.... then went to pick it up and it had already been sold
the search is now on or a turbo

i've been tempted a few times to buy a nice turbo or a 888 as i really liked the drive of the coupe... but i've been there done that .

ive driven an astra sxi 1.8 and wasnt to impressed with the power compared to my GSI.
if im spending a lot of money on a car id rather have the turbo.....which i wont get bored with.

to be honest, the 1.8 and 2.0 are the only real engines to go for in the coupe/hatch.
my one was a 2.2 and although it had about 150ish break and torque when u needed it... it was pretty shite on the petrol.
actually gets worse mpg compared to a 2.0 turbo

i drove my mates GSI turbo, and it drove lovely.
the only off putting thing is that at a certain speed, my mates astra used to hold back, becuase of the hose that goes to the throttle body used to squeeze together.
nothing that a hard pipe kit wont cure though
