Ive read this on the net and just wanted to know if its right. its about a X14XE engined corsa he claims the following
"I got 126mph out of my 1.4 16v on the rolling road, 0-60 in 6.9 seconds.
His explaination for this was -
"It was just over 10 seconds as standard, put on a K&N 57i Induction Kit, Chipped the ECU with an EPOM chip imported from germany. Straight through powerflow exhaust, Light weight alloy wheels, upgraded all the spark ancillaries. Also upgraded shocks and spings.

quite easy to do on a rolling road, pointless though.

I might try a 0-60 in mine, will get about 4 seconds probably with no load on the dyno

erasable programmable read-only memory chip.
just a type of chip that keeps its memory when the power to it is cut. as used in most tv's pc's ecu's etc....
in cars they are used to write data onto that can be rewritten (or remapped) whenever you want. used mainly in what is today known as 'live remapping'

Indeed, and no wind pressure etc too.

I managed 127mph out of my 1.6 when it was standard, that was down a very long hill.

ok, indicated. But the clocks are electrical, not mechanical, so they wont be that far out. So say 125mph.
You seemed to think mine would do 140mph with a raised rev limit anyway when I had that inlet fitted.

why wont they be that far out becuase theyre elctric? i dont understand that at all. is it abs ran speed or electronic sender in the gearbox?
raised rev limiter and your gearbox ratios suggested a theoretical top speed yes

No idea TBH, Ask Dave. With a raised rev limit mine could hit (indacated) 140mph easy.

mine does (according to speedo) 129mph at the rev limiter, which at 100mph the speedo is 5mph out, so i guess about 122-124mph is correct
