Author pre 97 bumper, cutting out grill?

im dying to cut the grill thing out of my pre97 but i have two questions

1. what is the best tool to use to do it? i was tihnking maybe a soldiering iron?

2. whats best to use to fill in the holes that will be left?

when i did mine, i used a soldering irno to melt most of it out and then a hack saw blade to neaten it up. if you do its alot easyier to atake the bumper off and then do it, you dont need to fill any of the holes in if your putting a grill in

I used a hack saw blade. Plastic is mega soft

I used a wood saw... badly. But it looks OK from a distance!

iv seen thtat they are not the most perfect fit, but your saying that an aftermarket post 97 grill will cover up the holes left from the old grill?

the only gap you get is from the circle in the middle. But the new grille covers it

Pop the plastic backing off and cut where the red marks are on this pic



Then screw the new grille in using the origional bolts at the top. as you can see the corners dont quite match but look ok imo
