Just had this done this afternoon with Ultralase.
I went for Wavefront Intralase Lasik something or another.
Very expensive but, you get a life time care guarantee.

Anyway, today went like this...
Get to Surgery.
Had a few more scans done to my eyes before going through into the proper waiting room.
Sat there for a while because the laser was going through some "technical complications"... very confidence inspiring
Nurse takes me to a small room to put that surgery iodine kind of solution around my eyes. I also had to wear a funny surgery hat and some cool shoe slippers
Went through all the eyedrops to take.
Then she led me into the operating room...
Lying down on the bed, it feels scary as fuck!
Its a big room, everything is white and proper clinical (as you'd expect).
They tape my eyes open and then they put this device on that holds your eyes totally open and pulls the flap open, i think? Quite uncomfortable on your eye with a lot of pressure. Everything goes black for a while.
Anyway... they slide me over to the Intralase bit. This is laser that cuts the flap open.
A few seconds pass, and they slide me over to the laser that does the shaping of your eyes. You have to stare at the laser and it just makes a lot of clicking noises. Matter of 90 seconds per eye
The rubbish part was that i didn't get to smell my eyeball burning
Washed my eyes with solution and put the flap back.
Job done! Repeated with next eye.
They take you into a recovery room with gay "chill out/relax" music for a few minutes.

Sent home and thats it

Now... the worst part.
A couple of hours after the anaesthetic has worn off, my eyes started to ache and sting a lot. Its fucking terrible. All you can do is sit there with sunglasses on, or sleep.

Now, its been about 8 hours since i went through.
I can see without glasses but its still hazy as expected

SCARY AS FUCK!

I'm glad my eyes are good... but jesus that scares the shit out of me... I'd only do it if they let me get drunk first... I'd happily just let them do whatever then

I had mine done just over a year ago - best money I've ever spent
I paid £1800 or Epi-Lasek (the one where the eye is cut and a flap made) Wavefront at my local branch of Optimax (I can get any future customers a discount btw)
My only regret is not doing it sooner.

People who say they would never have it - do you actually wear glasses?

I have worn glasses ever since i was 3, i cannot drive or even see without mine on. If i go out i have to get contacts which leave my eyes sore after a few hours, when i have a shower i have to hold shampoo/conditioner right upto my face to make sure im using the right one...

I would have it the second i can afford it, because wearing glasses for 18 years is not nice! I hate it!

i wear glasses and do not fancy getting laser surgery at all, it would be nice to not have to wear them but i don't think i could put myself through it, i think i could only just manage putting contacts in
