what makes the "tisst" noise on cars? sorry if i sound like a bit of a n00b do infact know nob all about cars

i love the sound, and want my car to make it.. is it expensive/hard to do? or... doable at all.. i have a 1.2 corsa B, i realise i will look like a twat with my car making that noise when it is slow as poo, but.. what ya gunna do?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

You need a turbo.

The sounds is made by boosted air being dumped. Your engine has no boosted air im afraid.

Dump valves do the tissshhhhh
Actuators do the "diddlydiddlydoooooo"
Blow off valves (BOV) sound like the world is getting a gale force wind.

called a dump valve, only on turbo cars (unless you get a fake one )

some one will elabourate on what they do, im unsure

do dumpvalves release the air between the inlet valves and the turbo to stop backspin (spooling)?

stop turbo stall yes, which is why i find it funny when people block off there dump valve pipes and think the pigeon sound of air coming back out the wastegate is a good thing

it regulates how much pressure the turbo is beinig given, opens up when to much pressure is being forced through it

exhaust gases have to go through the turbo thats what drives it to spool up, however it dump excess exhaust gases when the pressure gets too much

Most turbos will have a wastegate inside them. Some need an external wastegate...these are the ones that make a really loud noise. Even more so if you add a screamer pipe. Guess what sound they make

Exactly what it says.
Its a gate that "wastes" exhaust gases by letting them bypass the turbine wheel.

An actuator makes no noise, it just has a arm that is forced to move by boost pressure, which then opens the wastegate.

Im not a big fan of DV Tiiishh,, compressor stall sounds much cooler
