Not brilliant to say the least, going to leave 6th form now I think and get myself a job and forget last year, been working as a computer salesman for just under a year and quite enjoy it and considering a job as a car salesman. Anyone else been/is one? Whats it like for having to reach targets etc.? As a computer salesman its quite hard having to sell anti virus insurance etc.

I dropped out of AS this year, going to college to do a ND in motor vehical mechanics, its a more coursework course then AS and Alevels and i would suggest you try and get some sort of qualification maybe an apprentiship?
just my two cents worth

Sorry for asking but why are you leaving sixth form even though your exam results were bad? Have you considered other options such as re doing the year again? Or going to college and doing a GNVQ/similar? Why just give up?

Straight U's.
Considering going to a different college to do them as I know that isnt my best ability ( got decent grades in my GCSE's year before ) but the 6th form im at at the moment isnt brilliant and it seems that the % of people got E's and U's.

Yeah I did to be honest I admit I entered the world of going out at weekends and getting hammered.
Also worked too much I think skipped lessons etc. to work so I could afford the car.

When I was at College a few people had been at 6th form the year before and had terrible results, but passed with flying colours at college. I don't rate sixth form at all TBH

Good luck with whatever you choose though mate

IMO if you got U's and it was due to slacking then going to college would probably not be the best thing for you. At college your lecturers do care about you to a certain extent but it's your responsibility to get into college and hand your coursework in etc, they won't chase you up and get on your case about it. Whereas at school you kind of have to be there (if that makes sence) and hand your coursework in without fail else you'll get some form of punishment.

Saying that maybe college is the thing you need, new start and all that may work for you. And may be now you've learnt from you mistakes and get your priorities sorted you'll be in a better frame of mind etc

Also.. again just my opionion but even if you got U's how can you possibly contemplate giving up when you've got as far as even taking them in the first instance? If you just drop out and give up then how are you going to cut it as a car salesman? For example if someone comes into the showroom and you see them/show them around the car/take it for a testdrive and if they act undecided, what are you going to do just say "oh ok then I'm going to give up" or will you actually try to sell the car to them and make their mind up that they want to buy the car? Car sales is a hard job, you have to meet your targets and perform to how the car company want you do. If you don't then they'll sack you, hence why car sales have high staff turnover rates. I'll stop with the waffle now, but in summary I wouldn't give up

I think you really need to sit down and consider what you really want to do with yourself career/education wise to be honest.

Have you thought about organising to speak to your careers officers at school or something? Will be able to point you in the right direction, offer you advice or just listen to you...

Cheers for the reply!
Think car sales would suit me to be honest as I say im already a computer salesman and I do push each sale to the limit and my margin profit is quite decent to be fair.
Two of the 3 U's are not my final grade as I do need to re enter some coursework next year but its just I don't think 6th form is for me anymore, think ive just got to really consider my options, probably stay in after work tonight and write out some letters to colleges and companies seeing what I get back from them, once I know whats available to me think it will be easier for me to choose.

for the sake of a year i would just retake the exams and then try harder next year!!
its only one year out of the 70-80 your goign to live.
your feel proud of yourself for doing it and looks better on your c.v that you stuck at something and got good grades, it shows determination and a want to apply yourself and achieve!
i did gcse, a levels and 4 years at uni, loads times when i wernt getitn the grades i wanted but i jsut worked hard and stuck iut out and now im proud of myself for doing that!!

I never even started 6th form, just got a job straight away. I did well at GCSE (mostly As and Bs) and was told to not go to 6th form would be stupid, but I don't regret it one bit........got myself into a job and now have far more cash than the rest of my mates and will probably still be earning more than them when they finish uni.

Just think hard...........is it worth going back if you've lost interest? Are you bored with it? If so, whats the point in going back to do something you don't enjoy and won't get the best from you?

Like what's been said, At 6th form - you're under some pressure to turn up and do a good job, at college they tend not to give a shit, and let you do as you wish.

If you're lazy, college won't be a good move
