i guess most of us know the fitting method:
freezer and over etc...
but if i want to replace the bearings, how do i remove them from the metal sleeves - without damaging the sleeves?

lob them in the oven and try, if that doesn't work, no idea.

het them up and the sleeve will expand quicker than the bearing, then press the bearing out.

the sleeves being ally, i didnt really want to warp them

just forked out for the SBD bearings, as apposed to cuttiing up a GM idler.
are the bearings actually different?

No, they'll have a GM part number on them

no they dont
the grease cover of the bearing says, HNBR+FE.
GM ones dont 
+ theres still swarf inside the sleeve, showing theyve been made, not just a sliced gm part lol
