Right i start a new job on monday, but it's in a school, and schools dont start for 2 weeks.
During term time i know i have to be smart etc, practically a suit minus tie/jacket...
However on the first day i just don't know what to wear.like schools not open so do i go for informal however i dont want to go to informal incase its formal dress. I dont really want to make a bad impression on my first day.
so in that case do i just not take the risk and wear nice trousers and shirt but if it is informal will i look like a plank wearing (nearly) a suit ?????
Everyones opinion ?

I'd play it safe and wear trousers and a shirt, Don't expect you'll need a tie if it isn't term time.

Wear a nice shirt and respectable trousers i.e; not jeans and black shoes. Teaching is it? Anyway, this is what i wore on work experience

I used to work in a school. Shirt and pants will be enough with a pair of shoes. A tie and suit will make you look more professional in front of the parents and create that all important illusion.

I work in all manner of schools day in day out.
Term time I meet all levels of teachers, from interns to heads. I wear what i want, when I want....usually smart trousers and a polo.
Out of term time the heads and all downwards wear what they want to wear, I met a head teacher of a secondary school last week and he was wearing cargos and trainers
Depends on the school/head TBH
