Oops. Not had a good day today

Just picked my car up from the garage, but as I get to about 100m from the house, I slow down for a staggered cross roads, but someone comes around the corner in the middle of the road. Go to slow down, but locked up and because the road was greasy and had a high camber (the road cambers really badly from right to left), slid into a new VW Eos.

Not too much damage to the EOS (scuff on door and wing, knocked the bumper off, bent the suspension possibly), but its terminal for the Firebird. Suspension collapsed on the front and the wing/door is chinned.

I'm fully comp, which is something at least.

Had the road been flat, or had it not been raining earlier today i'd have probably not locked up and slid into it.

Anyway, on to the pics.

The first three hopefully show the camber of the road. Its not as bad when its dry, but it had been raining this morning and was drying up slowly.

The Eos has originally been parked parallel to the kerb.

Scuffed door and wing, the suspension has been knocked forward and its caught the bumper too.

Caught the tyre on the kerb on the other side too.

And the Firebird

Doesn't look too bad from the pic, but mainly due to the bad pic

Now minus the Trans Am splitter

Camber of the drivers side wheel.

Cracks and marks in wing

Camber of passenger side wheel. It was also facing a slightly different wheel to the one on the other side

This bit usually sits inside the wheel arch. Its broken off at the back, presumably from where it slid sideways into the car.

Same as the other side. It seems to have moved a bit more than the other side, again where the mounting has broken and is now fouling the steering.

As it was fully comp, I should be ok out of it. I'll obviously have to pay the £350 excess and the rest of the policy. It kind of puts paid to any ideas for getting an M3 as I had been planning on getting, but we'll see what happens with the NCB.

I've thought about that, but I doubt its worth it. I'll see what i'm offered for it and then go from there.

So thats YOUR friebird. I always wondered whos that was on when i went up to mutley plain. Those cross roads are about 10 seconds away from me.

Its not the nicest of roads to be honest. I've had the ABS in my corsa go nuts trying to slow my car down on that road before in the wet.

Shame about the car though mate, looked well smart before.

Its being collected by the insurance company tomorrow and i'll find out next week. Its beyond saving, as much as i'd want to.

On a lighter note, I shouldn't lose my NCB and it only adds £200 on to the M3 insurance quote.

Does that sign by the EOS say "permit holders only"?

If it does, I'd be checking to see if the EOS had a permit; if not he was parked illegally

the EOS 'could' be a write off too

geometry is not cheap to fix

That sign probably does say permit only, but all the streets around here are only permit only from 8.00am - 10.00pm.

Steve, whilst I agree with it not being cheap to fix, I can't see it being a write off. It needs the door repairing, the wing repairing, new bumper probably, inner wing plastic trim, lower suspension arm, strut and maybe two wheels and tyres. Its only a 6 month old car, so it'd need to be close to £10k or so to write it off.

However, this, cannot be saved

You'd be surpised, tbh, most of the suspension components on them are aluminium, they generally just break in the case of an accident..

Shit luck about the firebird tho... was a cooooool car..
