I realy want to start saving for a new car, It will take me months and months to save but im hoping my girlfriend passes her driving test soon (september) so i can give her my car and i can save even more money then.

I want to spend about 1500 - 2000 tops, and maybe have a seperate savings for a years insurance. Splitting the GSi so i will have a bit of money saved from that)

Just some choices of cars i have thought about,

1. Golf GTI mk2 (I dont know alot about these but i love the look of them)

2. Pug 106GTI

3. Corsa Sport 1.6

What are your suggestions? Cant realy get anything with a 2l Engine due to insurance. So 1.6's and 1.8's are fine.

Thanks

they are both decent cars, comfy an everythin and are both prety quick cars for their size but they are both classed more as family cars so will be to insure them easier

doesnt always go off engine size insurance wise mate, my saxo vts 1.6 is costing me more to insure than the vr6 being a 2.8, you may be aswell getting some quotes before you make your mind up.

how the feck did going in a 106gti put you off a VTS? did you like the badge on the gti better, cos its like the only difference lmao.

i'd go for the 106 though if i HAD to choose from them.

well i havnt been in a vts.. yet! so after going in the gti i knew what it was like. A VTS may just change my mind! doing insurance quotes on confused now and the prices are quite steep.

Cheapest is an astra sport 1.8 @ £900

When people say I can't really get anything with x size of engine because of insurance do they actually get a quote first?

In my experience quotes aren't directly related to engine size.

isnt it more to do with insurance groups rather than engine size? like a 2.0 bora sport is somethin like a 10/11 but a gsi is 12/13 an the bora is £370 cheaper for me to insure than the gsi

Buy my VTR

From an ex scooby and 106 GTI owner i can say that they are quick little buggers! Actually prefer the VTR to the 106.
