Been having some gearbox issues for the past few months, last week it gave up the ghost making a not very nice noise

Had to have a new gearbox (on it's 3rd now!) was told it would be ready tomorrow last friday, gearbox is on back order so it won't be ready for at least two weeks. To complete this joyess note they have informed me I can borrow a Colt, gee thanks

About 10,000 on current box, was mashed inside Under warrenty luckily Think I'm more unhappy about having to drive a Colt

No - this box was faulty they think, I think I've just been unlucky and a bit naughty with it. Don't hear people having many problems, only people running big power.

if you've been thrashing the living shit out of the gearbox then surely they wouldn't pay out though?

How many miles has yours done m8? Mines on the original clutch 21k running rc stage 1 upgrade. No probs with mine and i like my launches and visiting the rev limiter.

Im surprised the warrenty is vaild because its modified

They usually are ok with mods as long as it doesn't directly effect the broken part/s although gearbox is a tricky one. Who say's I've thrashed the shit out of this box? I've only done 5,000 in the car, the previous owner had the first box changed so I assume he's mostly to blame for this one going belly up.

Total mileage is 24,500, uprated clutch.

Not sure, previous owner sorted it. I did the standard clutch on my Makinen VERY early Go for something strong next!

The 1 i have seen for £999 is the exedy triple plate with flywheel i think from indigo gt. Hopefully it will be the only clutch i ever have to buy for it!

Yeah the Exedy's are good! Should put up with some firm abuse no problem at all.

Its actually a exedy twin plate hyper. Just spotted it for £900 on mlr group buy so might jump on the band wagon and save a 100er.

This is exactly the reason why I didn't get an Evo
I needed 100% reliability and decent service intervals.

Mine has been 100% relieable but i agree services are crazy!

Full fluid change every 4k.

Engine, gearbox, transfer box, rear diff, active centre diff and active yaw control. Think its only coolent and brake fluid that doesnt get changed every 4k! shocking...

Evo's are VERY reliable. Had two (loads of other cars) and these have been the most reliable out of all of them. They don't really cost that much to run either, a service is only a couple of hundred quid.
