^ can the same not be sad about car drivers, lorry drivers, bus drivers etc?
I dont think its fair to judge the majority based on a small percent.. not to mention its the riders decision were talking about here.. he could of made the same decision while driving anything..
I hope they both pull through

thats a fair point i should be more specific 99% of superbike drivers are wankers. i NEVER see them drive sensibly and im not exagerating. my dad owns a ktm and i know he drives that fine but people on scooters and superbikes have deathwishes (alot of the time)
and im not saying ALL so dont get offended

Ahem.
I think 99% is a LITTLE Harsh There Mate..
Its Typical Stereotyping.
Its different in each case. Bike riders think Modified car drivers are un-skilled fast driving chavs with a death wish. Where'as a Modified Car Driver thinks 99% of them are Wankers on Bikes with Death wishes..
Lesson to Learn;
Don't Judge a Group By One Person.

it is rare to see a powerfull bike doing the speed limit. ..... its actually quite odd to ever be going faster than one.

Yeah..well How many Modified car owners dont thrash their cars..?
&& Tbh. Most bikers only do it on a sunday.
Rather than car drivers who sit in their 1Ton 2Litre and think there Collin McRae on a Daily Basis..

Bikes are death traps for the rider and anyone that fancies getting in the riders way once he's lost control at 150 mph

Humm.
Well how many bike deaths have you heard about compared to cars..?
Id much fancy my chances infront of a bike than a One Ton Car..
95% of the time yes the rider will get hurt.
Thats only because its a bike, there not designed to absorb damage like cars.
Biking on the whole is only dangerous because of the fact of car drivers not seeing you or the error of the biker himself.
Where'as you'll of heard how many car drivers on their phone having knocked bikers off due to Lack of concentration is VERY High.

SportyBoy - So how many business people do you see at 8am 'cruising' along the M5 at 100mph+ everyday then..
Atleast on a bike the riders paying 100% attention all the time.
Car drivers now have drinks, phones, GPS systems, Volume controls, Air con etc to distract them, even for that split second its easy to miss a bike pulling out.
Trust me. Been There. Done that.

But most of the time it isn't the speed, but the weaving...........squeezing between cars and lorrys going in opposite directions as they can't wait. A LOT of bikers do this, tho I did let a biker through the other day who said thanks! I was shocked!!!

Well taking up such a small space on the road DOE'S mean a selected few choose to filter through traffic. Generally if you leave enough gap (as in move over to the left) all bikers will thank-you for it with a Nice wave..
At the end of the day its a case of understanding.
Try a Bike and you'll realise.

i was talking more single track and b-roads .. allso id beg to differ about bikers paying 100% attention .. were only human and ive nearly clatered a few before because of them not checking there blind spots etc

Well fair enough, some bikers dont often check before pulling out..(Normally down to experiance & Teaching..)
Although one MAJOR Flaw of a car design is the pillar design. Big Blindspot!
Exactly as you'll have seen in the Government adverts...

i must of been one of the safiest bikers and i still crashed but due to not my fault, i can round a corner in the evening when it was kinda dark and hit a clump or mud, fell off head butted a tree and broke 2 vertabre.
It really pisses me off when you get some dickheads who ride stupidly and they will never get hurt.
very unfortunate about the story in the first thread but hopefully they will be ok!

I'm on GuernseyRSVR's side here.
Just cos the of this idiot crashing his bike, doesn't mean we all are! Its guys like him that give bikers a bad name. Just like chav's that go to cruises do with people like us that mod our cars.
And when i'm out on my bike i don't go round thinking i'm invincible! I'm a lot more aware of my surroundings and alway thinking ahead, ie, whats the vehicle in front/behind going to do next!

the main point i think where ppl forget about bikes is when you want to overtake .. you look to see if the road is clear infront but dont genrally check behind you .. thats when you can swipe some1 on a bike or even a car as ive nearly found out a few times before lol ..
i think speed is fine .. it when and where you choose to use it that makes the difference

Good to see a differant side to the story, Thanks 'jimmy 2.1'
I agree with Graeme also.
I consider myself a good rider (Good few years experiance..) and personely ive had afew mis-haps myself.
One due to the "sorry didnt see you mate" case.
One due to my own fault (Just me involved..)
&& Another "Didnt see you mate.."
At the end of the day...
Your always going to be vulnerable on a bike no matter what, all bikers know that. Its just the selected few who push their abilities and luck too much.
