Has anybody had their loft converted?

I'd like some extra space, but as we've just spent a fortune sorting the garden out, I don't want to rip it up for an extension to be built so the loft is the obvious alternative. My idea is to have a bedroom and small shower room.

How much should I be budgeting for? What regulations are there regarding loft conversions?

Any advice or pics of conversions would be most appreciated.

bout 15 grand + depending on fittings quality of work ect, if you want it done properly.

you can get it done cheaper though if you skimp on things.

yeah best thing to do ring a few firms and get a few quotes you would be amazed at how the price from firm to firm differs when quoting on exactly the same ammount of work.

first thing to check is if it is possibile, will depend on head room. Really need around 2400mm from top of joists to underside of peak.

will also depend what kind of trusses you have, if it is a new house and they are gang nail trusses (look like a W) then it will require alot of strengthening work
