Come Monday i'm going to be doing 37.93 to work and then 37.93 home. Think i need a cheaper car I'll probs do another 200 miles on average on to at the weekend.

What's cheap to run these days and pick up with under 10,000 miles on the clock

1.3 corsa cdti - done 150 miles to just over a quater a tank (wasnt briming but nearly full) and was having it flat out on the A roads, but with a moddest 80 and town driving aswell.

Was extremely impressed with comsuption on that, especially with the amount of throttle it took alot of time.

Very comfortable on the motorway at any speed doesnt rev its heart out at all - was deeply impressed - just lacks overall speed especially with 3 people in the car But nippy when turbo kicks in but runs out straight away!

But it doesnt bother you once on the open road, it will hold its speed well (90+) just getting there!

im a right pansy on motorways tho and i hardly ever drive hard.. and i coast everywhere.

i just managed 220 miles and i have 5litres left.. so about another 40 miles i can do safely.

so 260 miles on 32L = 36.94 mpg

I'm sure I win. 106 1.5 N/A diesel. I can get white diesel for 78p a litre, costs £33 to fill the tank and I get 520 miles to that.
