Y to the 1.4 polos have 75bhp the same as my 1.2i 16v or close enough????? I dont undertsnad is this car a hell of a lot lighter os is there some sort of magic to make it piss all over mine?

Nothing to do with the 1.4's being 8v. Compare a 1.4 8v Corsa to 1.2 16v Corsa.

Why does my 12v Corsa have more bhp than a 1.2 8v, a whole 200cc's more?!

Corsa B sport 1.4 does roughly 88 BHP

Or may be, not every engine is the same just because of it capacity i.e. cc, hence the point of this thread.

well if the polo is a 1.4 16v it runs 100bhp standard and is a bit quicker than my sport which isnt standard, so maybe you are racing a 16v polo and not a 75bhp 8v??

I think the later Corsa C's are around the 80bhp mark, early ones like mine are 75bhp so I assume the Corsa B 1.2 16v is around the same

corsa b 1.2 16 valve is only 67 bhp i think and basically no torque

8v engines tend to produce more torque and less bhp than a 16v engine. they dont rev as high and dont need to be driven as hard as a small 16v engine to get anywhere.

So many different figures for the vauxhalls.
Have seen them figures but a few bhp out dont know who to believe.
